Smartphones are increasingly bought in naked version. In this context, high-end or several hundred euro models do not meet all needs. The Marseillais Laurent Dahan has understood and created Wiko in 2011 to offer low-priced mobile phones. Result, Wiko finished the year 2013 second in sales of smartphones in France, behind Samsung.
Although Wiko was bought by the Chinese company Tinno, he intends to tackle the European market.
However, a newcomer also wants to take advantage of this market. It comes to Kazam, a company English, founded a few months ago by former employees of HTC. Like Wiko, Kazam is owned by a Chinese company and develops low-cost mobiles.
He arrived in France in March with 7 models.
The range Trooper will be composed of five models equipped with a screen between 3.5 and 5.5 inches. They will be equipped with a dual processor core MediaTek, clocked of 1 to 1.2 GHz, memory RAM 512 MB and 4 GB storage space, expandable via microSDHC. Compatible 3G, they will be provided with two slots for SIM cards.
The range Thunder, meanwhile, will consist of two models. With a 4.5 IPS screen resolution inch 480 x 854 pixels, they will have a 1.3 GHz processor quad core MediaTek, a RAM of 1 GB and a storage space of 4 GB expandable via microSDHC. Android 4.2, they will be equipped with a front and rear 8-megapixel photo sensor 2 megapixels. The difference between the two models is that one will be compatible 3G and other 4G.
In March, the Trooper range will be available from 79 to 179 euros. It will wait until April to get the Thunder Q 4.5, which will be marketed in 169 and 199 euros.
Beyond low-cost smartphones, Kazam also, places emphasis on services and broader coverage. Worrying Wiko!
