The new three-year contract features yearly wage increases of 1.4% . Travel allowances are also going up two cents per kilometer this year to 36 cents, and then up another penny next year.

Canadian Red Cross Spokesperson Tanya Elliott is glad the issue has been resolved. “Our top priority throughout this process has been our clients and maintaining service levels.” says Elliott. “We do recognize that this has been a difficult time for some of our clients and their families.”

A total of 4,500 workers across the province fall under the new agreement, which was issued January 8.
