Sales of Wii U insufficient, a negative forecast supply balance, a threatened
CEO... Nintendo is in a complex situation. In this tormented period, the local
Publisher Electronic Arts games drives a little more the nail. An anonymous
source from the company said that the Wii U had become "a console for children"
and that EA had quickly "abandoned Nintendo." Not sure that EA remains faithful
to the manufacturer.
Exceptional sales of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One must dream
about Nintendo. Despite a little light line-up, these home consoles seduce
consumers, unlike the Wii U. A few days ago, Nintendo had a negative
forecast supply balance. On the fiscal year 2013 (which closes late March 2014),
the Group believes that 2.80 million Wii U will be sold, or slightly more
than half of sales of PS4, in November exit.
The situation of Nintendo does not fail to react. Some believe that the CEO,
Satoru Iwata, should leave his post, but he has indicated that he would
decline his salary, but would not resign. Others think that Nintendo should turn
to mobile, stop build consoles, etc. Whatever it is, Nintendo has an adequate
financial reserve to review its strategies unless its survival is at stake. On
the side of policy-makers, communications are optimistic, always thanks to
future games.
However, the anonymous reporting of an employee ofElectronic
Arts to the CVG site is not very positive. Indeed, the game publisher
would not really believe in the Nintendo console. Thus, this source said that EA
was quickly "abandoned Nintendo." Wii U "became a Platform for children,
and (we) do not really develop games for this audience. It is quite similar to
other labels. "Even Mass Effect, on which (we) have worked for a Wii U version,
was unable to sell. "Electronic Arts, Activision, focuses mainly on games that
can become large franchises".
A statement which suggests thatEA could let go Nintendo. Nothing is
sure of course. For its part, EA must satisfy the disappointed players NBA Live
14 and FIFA Manager 14.
